Washington Could Gut Your Savings – Without Taking a Dollar

Washington doesn’t have to confiscate your retirement for it to lose purchasing power.

The dollars inside it just have to buy less.

America’s national debt has now blasted past $40 TRILLION.

And the borrowing keeps piling up.

Meanwhile, inflation remains above the Fed’s 2% target – squeezing what every retirement dollar can buy.

So your IRA could still say $300,000… $500,000… even $1 million.

But what happens if those dollars buy far less than you planned for?

That’s the retirement threat millions of Americans may be overlooking.

And it’s one reason investors have turned to what’s being called the “debasement trade” – moving toward scarce assets like gold as concerns over debt, inflation and the dollar grow.

See what’s happening to the purchasing power of your retirement dollars.

We’ve put together a free guide revealing 3 steps you can consider taking as America’s debt problem grows.

Underground Drones Are Mapping Pipes Cities Don’t Know They Have

Every major city sits above a tangle of pipes, conduits, and cables that nobody has ever fully mapped. Water mains laid in 1940. Fiber spliced over gas lines. Storm drains that dead-end where a building was added a generation later. The records, where they exist at all, are wrong. That problem is now attracting real capital and a specific class of machine built to solve it.

What Happened

Exyn Technologies, traded on Nasdaq as EXYN, said in its second-quarter 2026 results that it secured new customer contracts across mining, infrastructure, and U.S. government sectors spanning three continents, including work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In September, the company extended its ExynAI autonomy platform to CHCNAV’s X500 drone, delivering nearly 30 minutes of autonomous flight in GPS-denied environments with no prior map required. Earlier, it announced a collaboration with Italian manufacturer UP Caeli Via to bring the same software to compact drones capable of reaching spaces larger platforms cannot.

The commercial backdrop is substantial. The underground utility mapping market is projected to reach $1.66 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach $2.84 billion by 2032, growing at a 9.31% compound annual rate, according to a September 2026 report from 360iResearch.

Why It Happened

The economics of sending a human surveyor into an unstable tunnel or abandoned mine shaft have never worked well. What changed is the hardware. Specialized LiDAR-equipped platforms are now navigating complex, GPS-denied environments without human pilots or pre-programmed flight paths, using SLAM algorithms to create high-resolution 3D point clouds in real time. That precision matters. Traditional locate-and-pothole methods are being replaced by UAV workflows that reduce utility strike risks and generate verified as-built utility maps.

Urban infrastructure is also aging faster than it can be inspected. Underground utility mapping has become a mission-critical function for infrastructure owners, engineering firms, municipalities, and utility operators as buried assets grow denser, older, and harder to document. The U.S. Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is accelerating the demand side, with substantial federal commitments tied to broadband, water, and energy modernization that all depend on accurate subsurface records.

How Professionals Might View It

Exyn’s revenue in the first half of 2026 was modest, about $2.14 million across the first two quarters, and the company is clearly still in commercialization mode. That is the right frame for watching this space: the technology works, the market need is confirmed, but the revenue inflection has not arrived. Exyn has said it has demonstrated measurable ROI in underground mining by reducing survey times, improving worker safety, and enabling digitization of mine planning, but scaling that into recurring contract revenue across municipal utility networks is a different sales motion entirely.

The software-first angle is the more durable position. Exyn has been expanding deployment of its ExynAI autonomy and mapping stack across underground mining, industrial, construction, and critical infrastructure environments, with technology that enables autonomous navigation and high-fidelity mapping in complex settings where GPS, reliable communications, and pre-existing maps are unavailable. Platform-agnostic software that runs on third-party hardware is a better business model than selling proprietary drones.

What Comes Next

Watch for municipal water authority and transit agency contracts. Those represent a different buyer than mine operators: longer procurement cycles, but far larger installed bases of uncharted pipe. Demand is being reinforced by water network renewal, energy transition projects, district heating and cooling networks, and urban transit expansion. Any company that can move from single-site mining deployments to programmatic city-wide utility surveys will command a meaningfully different valuation multiple.

The Trader’s Lesson

The technology that maps a gold mine at depth and the technology that maps a century-old sewer system are increasingly the same technology. When a niche capability starts winning government work across three continents in a single quarter, the total addressable market estimate in the original pitch deck is almost certainly too small. Size the opportunity by the infrastructure deficit, not the current revenue line.
